Twilio measured better than everyone else, including on data we cannot match
The same independent benchmark that put the cheap APIs in the low seventies put Twilio Lookup at 94% - the best result in the test. They are a carrier-adjacent business with direct network access, and that shows. We are not going to argue with a measurement because it is inconvenient. If raw phone accuracy is the only thing you are buying and budget is not a constraint, they are a defensible choice.
Where per-lookup pricing turns into a problem
At $0.04 a lookup with full data packages, validating a list of 25,000 numbers costs a thousand dollars, and there is no interface to do it with - you write the loop yourself, handle the retries yourself, and find out the total afterwards. That is the specific shape of complaint the benchmark recorded: expensive at bulk, and no bulk UI. What you actually get for the difference

If none of those matter to you, stay where you are.
Can I use both?
