BIMI record checker

BIMI is what puts your logo next to your messages in Gmail and Apple Mail. It only works on top of a DMARC policy that is actually enforcing, which is why most BIMI records that look correct do nothing at all.

BIMI is the last step, not the first

A BIMI record is ignored unless the domain publishes a DMARC policy of quarantine or reject, applied to all mail. Publishing BIMI while sitting on p=none is the single most common mistake here: the record parses, every checker says it is present, and no mailbox provider will ever draw the logo. The order is SPF and DKIM, then DMARC at none while you read the reports, then quarantine, then reject, and only then BIMI.

The certificate most people skip

Gmail requires a Verified Mark Certificate — a paid attestation that you own the trademark on the logo — before it will display anything. The SVG alone is enough for some providers and not for Gmail, which is where most of the audience is. The certificate runs to roughly a thousand dollars a year and requires a registered trademark, so BIMI is realistically for organisations that already have one rather than something to add on a wet afternoon.

Questions

My BIMI record is published but no logo appears. Why?

Almost always one of three things: DMARC is not at quarantine or reject, there is no Verified Mark Certificate, or the SVG is not the restricted profile BIMI requires (SVG Tiny PS, no scripts, no external references). Check the DMARC policy first — it is the one that silently disables everything else.

Does BIMI improve deliverability?

Not directly. It changes how a delivered message looks, not whether it arrives. The deliverability gain people report comes from the DMARC enforcement BIMI forced them to do, which they could have had without BIMI.
