Datacenter IP checker

A signup from a datacenter address is not necessarily fraud, but it is almost never a person on their sofa. Knowing which you are looking at is one of the cheapest fraud signals available.

What it tells you, and what it does not

Consumer traffic comes from ISP networks. Datacenter traffic comes from hosting providers, and on a consumer signup form that usually means a script, a scraper, or somebody behind a cheap VPS proxy. But it also means a corporate VPN, a privacy-conscious user, or a legitimate server-to-server integration. Treat it as one signal with real weight, never as a rule that blocks on its own.

Why we keep this off the validity verdict

A datacenter address is a completely valid IP. Folding "risky" into "invalid" is how fraud scores end up reading as noise: the two questions have different answers and different consequences, so they get separate numbers.

Questions

How complete is the list?

The bundled table covers the largest hosting networks by traffic volume. The paid API uses a licensed database with far broader coverage.

Should I block datacenter IPs at signup?

Rarely outright. Raising friction - a verification step, a review queue - keeps the legitimate users you would otherwise lose.
